Celebrating 3.7 million moments of dignity in 2024

In 2024, Dignity Matters distributed 3,7400,000 menstrual care items and undergarments to women and girls living in poverty across Massachusetts.

We deepened the impact of our existing partnerships and expanded to new areas of need in our state. With a steadfast commitment to ending period poverty, we helped women and girls live and learn with dignity while they work toward a brighter future.

The achievements below – and our ambitious goals for 2025 – reflect the dedication and resilience of our staff, volunteers, donors, and partners. Every item we distribute is donated by you or purchased with your support, and all of you play an important role in our work.

2024 Highlights

We helped women manage 182,000 periods safely and with dignity (7,000 more than in 2023). Every month, women received a generous supply of the specific menstrual care (pads, tampons or liners) they are most comfortable using. We also increased the number of reusable products distributed (such as cups, discs, and period underwear) based on requests from our partners

12,155 women received 6 pairs of underwear (72,940 pairs total) in their preferred size and style. This is an essential part of our work: you can’t use menstrual care correctly without underwear, but many of the women we support can’t afford it. Thanks in part to a generous donation from Victoria’s Secret, we distributed 8% more underwear in 2024 than we did in 2023.

7,626 women received 3 well-fitting bras (22,880 bras distributed, 38% more than in 2023). Our volunteers were busy collecting, washing, refurbishing, and repacking new and used bras of every kind, including bralettes, sports bras, nursing bras, strapless bras, and surgical bras. For the second year, generous donations from Glamorise helped make this possible.

Our new warehouse in Westborough gave us much-needed room to grow. Doubling our footprint allowed us to increase support for existing partners, and forge new partnerships in parts of Eastern and Central Massachusetts that we weren’t serving previously.

Women in 63% of cities and towns received support from Dignity Matters each month. From Haverhill to Cape Cod and Worcester to Boston, we’re proud to be there for thousands of women across Massachusetts.

What’s Ahead in 2025?

In 2025, we’re focused on supporting the women that count on us every month, and on fostering new partnerships to give more communities reliable access to menstrual care.

This includes:

New partnerships in areas of Eastern Massachusetts where more need exists, including Falmouth, Lawrence, Somerville, and Westborough.

Expanding west by deepening our footprint in Worcester County and supporting public school students in Springfield.

As resources allow, expand support for current partners if we haven’t previously been able to meet the needs of all their clients.

Everything Dignity Matters achieved in 2024 was made possible by our incredible volunteers, donors and friends. And everything we do in 2025 will be thanks to your continued support for the women and families that count on us. Thank you!
